Nature & Nurture: All Creatures Great and Small

Study the life of James Herriot and the landscape of the Yorkshire Dales

4 weeks of Videos, Handouts, and Nature Journaling Prompts to guide you in exploring your own landscape through the lens of All Creatures Great and Small.

In this class we will spend four weeks exploring the world of James Herriot, the landscape of the Yorkshire Dales, the wildflowers that grow in that area, the animals James took care of, and the kinds of farms he visited and loved. We will use these discoveries to inform our own nature exploration and nature journaling.

Each week also includes teatime: teatime with Mrs. Hall, teatime with Tricky Woo, teatime at the farm, and teatime with Helen. We’ll explore traditional recipes and discuss various aspects of life in the Yorkshire Dales.

You will receive four weeks of video instruction as well as technique videos to guide you in your drawing and watercolor journaling.

This class is designed to take you anywhere from 2-4 hours or more each week, depending on how much time you are able to set aside for nature journaling and nature exploration.

Art materials are not included and must be purchased separately. You can find the recommended supply list here.

Age: This class is created for adults and high schoolers but may also be enjoyed by younger students.
